As with many businesses, insurers sometimes change their name – especially in the life & health (L&H) space. Here we run through some of the recent changes.
Several L&H insurers have been bought and sold in recent years. This has particularly been the case where banks have decided to focus on lending and let the insurers manage client’s insurance requirements, rather than do it inhouse.
This can be confusing for policy holders – especially when you receive a letter from a company that you may not be familiar with.
With many convincing scams around, you may even wonder if the correspondence is real!
Below we have broken down some of the most recent name changes to help you establish who your policy could now be with.
If your insurer has changed names, you can rest assured that an existing policy will generally live beyond the original insurance brand.
This means there is nothing to fear when the insurer changes hands. In all the name change transitions we listed above, for example, the policy wordings have been honoured.
Even though there may be a different team with a different uniform, the office administration, support, and claims functions continue.
In some cases, consolidation with a specialist life business will bring even further benefits. For example, there may be opportunities to get enhanced coverage and/or the new insurer may have better processes and systems.
If you are ever unsure who your cover is with or are concerned about any correspondence you may receive direct from an insurer, please do get in touch. We’d be happy to help.
